DESCRIPTION:David V Horste\, Lapidary Artist \nTrunk Show\n“The Power of Pastels” \n  \n \nThis is the dictionary definition of “Pastels.”   \nIt is an art medium.  Paint with chalk. \n  \nBut this is what David is thinking of when he talks about “Pastels\,” in his Bead world. \n  \n    \nThese Focal beads are similar to the “Ford-ite” that David has shown to us in the past. \nHowever\, these are made from the “over spray” of a surfboard manufacturer.   \n“Hang Ten\, dude!” \n  \nMore traditionally\, David has prepared some “Easter Eggs”\,  for us\, in the form of both Cabochons & Focal Beads.   \n  \n \nTOP: Hemimorphite\, Thulite\, Lapis Lazuli\,\n \nBOTTOM: Rhodochrosite\, Shattuckite\, Kingman Turquoise \n \nTOP:  Amazonite\, K2 Azurite in Granite\, Thulite\, Citron Chrysoprase \nMIDDLE: Ruby in Zoisite\, Persian Turquoise\, BumbleBee Stone\, Shattuckite \nBOTTOM:  Rhodochrosite\, Chevron Amethyst\, Lapis Lazuli\, Emerald \nFor many people\, this is Holy week and in honor of this David has cut up a batch of focal beads and cabs out of his limited stock of genuine Bloodstone.   \nBloodstone has been seen as a special stone since ancient times.  The Greeks  believed it was a stone that affected the rain\, solar eclipses\, and could cause invisibility.   \nIn more recent history the stone was adopted by people of the Christian faith to represent the blood of Christ.   \nBloodstone is also the classic\, traditional\, birthstone for the month of March.  \n   \n  \nFinally\, David will have a good stock of genuine Persian turquoise from Iran and sparkling natural surface astrophyllite from Russia\, both of which were stones he scored big with in Tucson this year!    Take a look at this gorgeous and remarkable stone. \n  \n    \nAstrophyllite.  From Russia. \nThis is David’s first Trunk Show at BDC in  over  1 1/2 years.  I think you’ll have to agree that it’s going to be a “druzzy”.  😳

Others will be offered as bead sets\, as well as individual beads. \nThis is only her second visit to BDC\, up from the Oregon Coast\, from which she draws creative inspiration. It’s also a chance to meet Rhiannon and get to know a new artist in this vibrant art form. Rhiannon enjoys answering questions and establishing a connection with folks contemplating investing in one of her pieces. DESCRIPTION:Does anyone remember the old Mother Goose rhyme\,  \n“Jack Be Nimble”? \nIn an age of Tide Pods consumption\, candle stick jumping seems somehow quaint\, yet only slightly less dangerous. \nRegardless\, being “Nimble” is obviously a wonderful\, positive skill. \nScheduling opportunities bring Theodore\, of Janu Gems\, back to BDC this week\, Wednesday afternoon thru mid-afternoon Friday.  (When your wife is the 5th ranked female Sitar player in India\, the concert circuit takes one to exotic locations\, such as Portland.) \nThe opportunity to host Janu Gems again\, even after he’d been here so recently\, we had to jump at the chance.  (No candles were harmed.) \nPerhaps you missed Janu’s visit earlier this year in early March.  Now the cold\, dreary and wet weather has finally been replaced by glorious spring.  And our ever attentive customers realize that a full 1/3 of the year is past.  Mother’s Day\, Father’s Day\, and Graduations are on the horizon.  June Brides won’t be far behind\, and those big holidays at the end of the year will be here before you can say “35 weeks.” \nHere are some pictures to refresh your memory. \n  \n           Theodore’s show is Mid-Week this time.  More opportunity for you to visit with him.   \nBetter parking.  Better weather.  Great lunches close by.   \nWe’ll look forward to seeing you here! \n
