BDC CLOSED for Independence Day, July 4th.
We pause this 4th of July to remember the courage, strength, and perseverance of Molly Pitcher, during the Battle of Monmouth. Stepping in to load and fire the cannon when the regular gun crew was killed and injured, she remained calm under enemy fire. This was not part of her normal training or experience, but she was no shrinking violet. And yet she was nimble enough to get the job done. She even earned recognition from General Washington.
We believe that creative problem solving such as found in bead work, (planning, design, and execution) nurtures the creative muscle, and helps make the mind more nimble. So we celebrate Molly Pitcher this 4th of July.
