Janu Gems, Semi-Precious Stones Trunk Show
Change your perspective. Enhance your point of view.
Escape your rut.
Change your perspective. |

Years ago, my pre-dawn walks typically followed the same paths. But simply changing sides of the street changed my experience from the sweet smell of flowering plants, to the dark, rich earthiness of freshly turned dirt. Or, I’d notice architectural details; covered up coal chutes that had previously helped to heat older homes. Or tell-tale signs of a by-gone era like horse rings embedded in the curb.

The change in perspective opened my senses to differences realities. This simple change enhanced my experience, and expanded my point of view.

You can expand your point of view by visiting our “Janu Gems” Trunk Show this weekend. As a direct importer, Theodore travels to far more exotic places than SE Portland: the Far East and India, to bring back semi-precious gems, natural stones, pearls, and more. His selections for import are influenced by his experiences as a PhD of Transcendental Meditation. His equally talented wife Reshma is an internationally known Sitar player, currently ranked as the fifth best woman player in India. Even for Portland, this is an exceptionally talented couple, whose perspectives are quite different from ours.

Theodore, of Janu Gems, is returning this weekend to BDC, bringing his collection of gems, pearls, beads and ready-made pieces.
He is just back from overseas, bringing with him lots of new inventory for his Trunk Show this weekend, Saturday & Sunday, August 27 and 28. There are plenty of beads to see, starting with some very nice, but budget priced plain beads (Brazilian, African, and Cape Amethyst, Moonstone, Labradorite, Peridot, Apatite, Rose Quartz, Citrine, etc.) which will sell at the show in a range from $3 to $10 per strand. More complex beads, with plenty of fine micro-facets, will be available from between $16 and $30 per strand (including Tourmaline, Amethyst, Peridot, Apatite, Garnet, Citrine, Labradorite, and, of course, many more.) Looking for larger sized beads in faceted, or plain nuggets, briolettes and a wide range of shapes and sizes? Yes. This is your chance to find them. Then there are the very high end beads, fashioned from top grade stones, and not usually available at bead shows. These will appeal to you designers out there. On top of all that, there are the loose stones, perfect for setting in cabs, or paired with faceted gemstones. Theodore asked us to let you know that in addition to stones that he has featured in the past, this time he is bringing “… watermelon tourmaline slices, a wide range of fine cabochons, also diamond beads and a wide range in tourmalines, chrysoprase, and also rhodochrosite”. |
