N!X is the brand name of the Belgian designer
Niki Passenier’s exclusive line of fine silver beads
and findings.  Based in Chiang Mai, Niki has been
collaborating closely with the traditional
silversmiths from the Karen Hill Tribe in northern
Thailand for more than twenty years.  Today, Niki is still in partnership with the same families of tribal artisans whom she started out with in the late ’90s. Her long-standing relationship with the Karen
artisans bear testimony to her adherence to the
principles of fair trade long before it became a
buzzword.  The artisans handcraft Niki’s unique
designs of fine silver beads, pendants, and
components, which she uses to create exquisite
pieces of jewelry.  Niki’s partnership with the tribal
silversmiths have been instrumental in developing 
a sustainable cottage industry for the Karen Hill
Tribe that allows them to work from home while
providing a meaningful livelihood for their families.
